SuperRare NFT marketplace PROS

One of the upsides of using SuperRare NFT marketplaces is that only high-quality NFTs are available. This is because you can only mint NFTs on SuperRare if you got an invitation.

Only artists who got a great portfolio can join SuperRare, and that’s why the NFTs are of higher quality than on other marketplaces. However, this also means that it’s hard getting into this marketplace as a creator.

SuperRare got a user-friendly website design. Even if you are first time in the NFT space, you’ll easily navigate through it. You can search for art based on categories, authors, descriptions, and more.

We believe it is important that NFT marketplaces are similar to other marketplaces that are non-related to the blockchain.

Why?

Because not everyone is tech-savvy. If we want to attract as many new users as possible to the NFT space, we got to make it more approachable. A user-friendly website is one of the steps necessary to achieve that goal.

You can use one of three wallets supported on SuperRare. However, WalletConnect supports almost every blockchain wallet, so that option will basically allow you to use even more wallets. We prefer marketplaces with multiple wallet options, so SuperRare got bonus points here.

Most people prefer having all funds in one wallet instead of using a new wallet for each website.

There are many famous artists on SuperRare like DJ Don Diablo, Pak, Dmitri Cherniak, Mr.Misang, and plenty more. If you manage to get an invitation, you’ll be selling your art alongside them. It’s way easier to sell art when the marketplace is so exclusive.

SuperRare editorial is something pretty close to a fashion magazine, but they only display art from their marketplace. There are already over 70 pages in their editorial with articles about art available on SuperRare.

What file formats are supported on the SuperRare marketplace?

SuperRare supports multiple file formats for all kinds of creators. It doesn’t matter if you are creating 3D models, animations or images, SuperRare got you covered.

We have already witnessed how SuperRare added support for a new file format as time goes on, so this list might expand in the future. However, currently, SuperRare NFT marketplace supports these file formats:

  • PNG
  • JPEG
  • GIF
  • MP4
  • GLB

You can upload art up to 50MB in size. We don’t like the fact that file size is limited to such a low number. Especially since it’s so hard to get invited and there are no spammers on the marketplace.

All files together with their metadata are stored on IPFS. In case you don’t know what’s that, IPFS is an InterPlanetary File System and it is responsible for storing all NFT data online.

NFT data on IPFS includes

  • MetaData – Every NFT collection on a marketplace has certain properties. Whether that’s a collection of 1000 uniquely generated items or just a single edition. We already know that all NFTs are stored on the blockchain, but how does the marketplace get the NFT data? It gets data through MetaData. Every NFT property, whether that’s the name of each NFT or traits it has is in the MetaData. This also includes the link to an image of your NFT.
  • Images – Your images have to be stored online so the marketplace can display it. We use IPFS storages for such a thing. When you upload your image to IPFS, that link is one of the properties of MetaData.
  • URI – Link to the MetaData folder that the marketplace uses for your NFT data.

This process is automatic, you don’t have to do anything manually. That’s just the background process of every collection on any NFT marketplace.

Can I decorate my collections on SuperRare?

No, there isn’t a way to decorate a collection SuperRare. Most other NFT marketplaces have a separate collection page. Usually, you can add a profile image for the collection, cover image, and similar stuff, however, SuperRare doesn’t support this feature like most marketplaces.

That being said, NFTs posted on SuperRare still have some attributes added to them. These attributes include:

  • Name – Each NFT got to have some kind of a name. This separates it from all other art on the marketplace.
  • Description – Short description of the NFT that explains what is it about.
  • Hashtags – Similar to those on social media platforms, hashtags on SuperRare also help the users find similar art. When user adds hashtags to his art, you can select it and you’ll see all other art with the same hashtag.
  • Owner – Shows the current owner of this NFT.
  • Artist – Shows who has originally created the NFT.
  • Current bid – View the highest current bid while the auction is active.
  • Bidding history – Check the bid history and who outbid who. This is a cool feature because everything is transparent.
  • Favourite – If you have signed up for SuperRare, you can like an NFT. The number of “likes” shows on the page as “favourites”.
  • Views – How many times has somene seen this particular NFT?

Despite not having a separate profile page for the collection, SuperRare still shows a wide variety of attributes for the NFT.

What NFT wallets are supported on SuperRare marketplace?

SuperRare NFT marketplace supports three different wallets. We always prefer marketplaces that have multiple wallet options, and SuperRare is one of them. Supported NFT wallets on SuperRare are:

  • MetaMask
  • Fortmatic
  • WalletConnect

Since WalletConnect supports almost every blockchain, SuperRare can be accessed with most NFT wallets out there. If you are wondering which NFT wallet to use, take a look at our list of best NFT wallets.

We prefer when NFT wallets are directly available, but having the WalletConnect option is still better than having no options at all.

Does SuperRare support auctions?

Yes, SuperRare supports auctions. There are three ways you can buy or sell an NFT on SuperRare, and these are:

  • Auction – As previously mentioned, you can purchase or sell an NFT on SuperRare auction through the auction system. There are two different auctions, reserved and scheduled. Reserve auctions have a reserve price set to them, when someone bids that amount, a 24-hour timer kicks off. When the timer is on 0, NFT goes to the highest bidder. Scheduled auctions do not have a reserver price. You just specify the start and end time together with an optional starting price. When the time is up, the highest bidder wins.
  • Buy Now – Similar to how other NFT marketplaces function, SuperRare also has the “Buy Now” feature. If you want to buy an NFT with this sale format, you’ll need to pay for the price artist has chosen. If you are an artist and you choose this price format, you can still receive and accept offers.
  • Offer – This option is by default available for every NFT. Basically, if you are a collector, you can send an open offer for any NFT that you like. You can also withdraw an offer if you no longer want to buy that specific collectible.

You should choose a sale format that fits you the best. If you can determine a price for your NFTs, go with the “Buy Now”. Otherwise, choose the “Auction” style format. Make sure you set a reserve price for an auction if you don’t want it to sell for cheap.

Who is a perfect client?

SuperRare is great when you are searching for high-quality NFTs. However, high transaction fees might turn off average collectors. SuperRare is an awesome place to purchase NFTs if you are collecting high-value NFTs where average transaction fees of around $50 won’t matter to you.

Otherwise, you might want to take a look into alternatives. There are NFTs on other blockchains with much lower transaction fees as well.

You are also a perfect client of SuperRare if you are an artist with some followings and a good portfolio. If that’s the case, join their Discord and ask what is the best way to apply. Their Discord is pretty active and the members will always help you out.

You are not a perfect client of SuperRare if:

  • You are looking to purchase cheap NFTs
  • High transaction fees bother you
  • It is your first time making art
  • You don’t have a social media profile or portfolio published

Can you promote your NFT on SuperRare?

At this moment there is no way to promote your NFT on SuperRare directly. However, that doesn’t mean you cannot promote it at all. You still have plenty of other media channels to promote your NFTs at.

If you are unsure what are the best ways to promote, take a look at this list:

  • Social Media Platforms – This includes all the most known platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, etc. These platforms have hundreds of millions of people on them. Most people are not on social media platforms because of NFTs, however, millions are. If you are not advertising your NFT on social media, you are missing out.
  • Newsletter – Whether it’s a paid article published on Yahoo Finance or a free one published on Medium, a newsletter is always a good option. You’ll reach many different people and they’ll learn more about your NFTs.
  • Advertisement – This includes Google ADS, Facebook ADS, and similar companies. While paying for ad campaigns is a great way to directly reach people, it costs a lot. You should only opt for this method if you believe your project has a high ROI.
  • Web advertising – Directly advertising your NFT collection/collectible on a website. This includes NFT related websites such as ours. This is your best option because you directly reach people interested in NFTs.

We got plenty of visitors and our website is growing every day. Advertising on our website means advertising directly to NFT buyers because that’s our only audience. Our prices are affordable and surely lower than what promoters on Twitter are asking for, yet we got better results.

However, we also do social media advertising. It really just depends on what you are trying to achieve. Take a look at our advertising offers and list your NFT on our website.

Does SuperRare provide any support?

Yes, SuperRare has both live support and help articles. Their help articles are full of information and you can get answers to most of your questions through them.

There are 35 different help articles from multiple categories. They are expanding these articles all the time. However, if you got a question that is not yet available in help articles, you can always get an answer through SuperRare live chat.

Are there any partner programs?

No, there are no partner programs on SuperRare. We believe one of the reasons why they don’t have a partner program is because getting invited to become a creator is hard. Creating a partner program doesn’t make sense at this moment since they got a lot of applications from various artists.

How does SuperRare compare to competitors?

SuperRare has much higher quality NFTs compared to other NFT marketplaces. The average prices of NFTs on SuperRare are also much higher than on other marketplaces which is both a good and a bad thing.

If you are a collector looking for expensive NFTs to hold or flip, SuperRare is a great choice. However, if you are just starting out with NFTs, there are better marketplace options for you.

On the other hand, if you are a creator invited to join SuperRare, this is a good opportunity for you. The competition is low compared to other marketplaces and most NFTs on SuperRare are sold for a high price.

SuperRare is amongst the best NFT marketplaces both by total sales volume and NFT quality in general. That’s a good indicator that the marketplace is pretty active and people are following it closely.
